The idea for MageCDN began from trying to host images for my blog. It was a big PITA to convert, resize, images, put them in the folder and then commit them to the repo.
I wanted something that's as simple as Imgur, but allowed me to embed images whereever I wanted . And I was okay paying for it.
I was surprised to see nothing like that existed. Solutions like ImageKit, Cloudinary were too complicated for my needs, extremely pricey once you went beyond free-tier, and catered to large enterprises.
So, I started MageCDN with three simple goals:
a) pricing should be affordable and scale linearly.
b) basic image operations (resize, crop, optimize) should be doable within
the app.
b) uploading and getting a link you can use should be fast and hassle-free.
That's basically what MageCDN is: simple, affordable, reliable Image hosting service.
